Every dealer in Ontario must be registered with OMVIC, the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council. Advertised prices must be all-in — everything except HST and licensing — so a dealer cannot add fees at the desk that were not in the ad. Buyers from a registered dealer are also backed by a compensation fund if the dealer fails to deliver.
